Match report: Lytham U13 v Fleetwood CC U13

Lytham U13 Good Run Continues

Lytham U 13’s good run continued with a 41 run victory over Fleetwood at Broadgate on Friday.

Lytham having lost the toss for the eighth consecutive time and were put into bat on a wet wicket and went about unspectacularly accumulating runs with Jason McGreehin (30 not out) and Jacob Reid (19) providing them with a solid foundation. Harry Duff hit a quick fire 31 not out as Lytham scored 116 runs from their 20 overs. Fleetwood’s opening bowler John Wilson was the pick of the Fleetwood bowlers.

Fleetwood went into bat and were quickly put on the back foot when George Brookes claimed an early wicket; however, Fleetwood continued to keep the score board ticking over and at the halfway stage of the Fleetwood innings the match was interestingly poised. At this stage Lytham introduced their slow bowlers and with Michalis Papengelis and Elliott Dalgleish bowling extremely tightly and supported by excellent fielding the match began to turn Lytham’s way. Fleetwood were eventually dismissed for 75 runs with Elliott Dalgleish claiming 3 wickets for 8 runs.
