Lancashire Cup Semi-final: Lytham U13 v Prestwich U13

Lytham Storm to the Final.

Lytham U 13’s stormed in to the final of the Lancashire Cup beating Prestwich by 29 runs.

Having been put into bat by the hosts, Lytham’s openers Nathan White and Jason McGreehan cautiously set about building a patient but solid platform for Lytham’s later batsmen to build on. Lytham’s first wicket fell with 32 runs on the board. Sam Hall then continued the good work with a quick fire 27 and with Harry Duff and Elliott Dalgleish keeping the momentum going Lytham reached a very respectable total of 127 in their 20 overs. Nathan White was Lytham’s top scorer with 34 not out.

In reply Prestwich also found batting difficult and whilst they passed the 50 run mark without loss the tight Lytham bowling and fielding made sure that Prestwich were always struggling to keep up with the required run rate. Eventually Lytham bowlers got the break through they were striving for when Elliott Dalgleish took the first wicket. Lytham’s quicker bowlers then returned to the fray with both Sam Hall and Harry Ashton taking two wickets a piece. George Brookes Lytham’s best bowler on the day finished with tremendous figures of 3 wickets for 8 runs.
