Match report: Lytham U13 Win Local Derby
Monday 4th June 2007- Lytham U13 A v St Annes U13
In the local derby, St Annes won the toss and put Lytham into bat on a pitch that offered a little bit of assistance to all the bowlers. Lytham struggled early on in the face of some
very accurate and determined St Annes bowling and struggled to 46 for 6, before Danny Woodbridge supported first by Ashley Gregson and then by Harrison Kenworthy began to
repair the damage inflicted by the St Annes bowlers. Ben Saunders chipped in with a quick fire 8 not out to finish Lythams innings on respectable 105 runs for loss of 8 wickets from their 20 overs.
In reply St Annes early batsmen struggled and lost three cheap wickets to the impressive Andrew Walkden. Lytham continued to apply pressure in the field and St Annes were never allowed to
get into a position to make a serious challenge to reach Lytham’s score. Nathan White Lytham’s captain kept the pressure on St Annes with two quick wickets and Will Nash playing his first
game for the A-team also picked up a wicket, as Lytham ended up dominating the match restricting St Annes to a final total of 77 for 8 of their 20 overs.
Lytham U13 now remain unbeaten in 5 games and have reached the quarter final of the Lancashire Cup where they will play Elton Cricket Club from the Bolton Association League.
