Moore and Smalley Palace Shield U13 Junior Competition: Lytham v Garstang

LYTHAM U13 MAKE IT 7 WINS OUT OF 7

Lytham defeated Garstang by 9 runs to retain their lead in the Moore and Smalley Palace Shield U13 Junior Competition on Sunday.

Batting first Lytham scored 99 runs in their allotted 20 overs with Harry Duff and Harry Ashton registering scores over 20 with a number of other batsmen also making worthwhile contributions which took Lytham to a respectable if not spectacular total of 99 for the loss of 4 wickets.

Garstang set about their task with great gusto and quickly chipped away at Lytham’s total aided by some unusually casual Lytham fielding and half way through Garstang’s innings it looked like a first defeat of the season was looming. However, Lytham began to pick up wickets and Garstang’s brave run chase fell away leaving Lytham the victors by a narrow 10 runs.

This was not a vintage performance from Lytham however; Lytham’s unbeaten record remains in tact and extends their unbeaten run in all competitions to 12 games without defeat.
