Liverpool Competition ECB Premier League: Lytham v Maghull
Lytham 209 for 9 dec. Maghull 67 all out.
A comprehensive victory at Maghull, kept alive Lytham outside hopes of a league title.
Maghull invited Lytham to bat first and Swiers soon had Simon Long unluckily dismissed when the ball struck his elbow & rolled back onto the stumps.
Antony Mulligan (18) and Guy Roberts (20)set about repairing the damage, before Jimmy Wisniewski arrived at the crease. Supported by Richard Openshaw (10)
Jimmy took the attack to Maghull & his outstanding knock of 89 saw him pass 800 runs for the season.
Lewis Dingle chipped in with a usefull 22 & Marcus Sharp who this season has made quite an impression with the bat, added an unbeaten 36 which allowed Lytham to delare on 209 for 9.
Maghull struggled to score a run in the opening overs. Michael Rigby struck first removing Gillespie for no score before Marcus Sharp accounted for Maghulls top two batsmen Paddy
McKeown (6) & Keiron Powar (5)
Richard Openshaw then took over from Sharp & in his first over since returning from injury clean bowled Roots (5) & Swiers no score.
Rigby next joined in the carnage accounting for Ring (2) & Forrest (0) before the leg spin of Lythams skipped removed Murphy (16) and Snodgrass (0)
Only McDonnel (31) gave the home team any semblance of respecability, before he fell to Marcus Sharp and Maghull were all out for 67 giving Lytham a haul of 24 points.
With four matches remaining, this victory leaves Lytham handliy placed in fifth spot, just one victory behind league leaders New Brighton.
