Liverpool Competition Knockout Trophy: Northop v Lytham

Northop Hall 170 all out, Lytham 172 for 2.

Lytham made the long trip to North Wales for the first round of the Liverpool Competition ECB Premier League KO.

Lytham were without regular opening bowlers Marcus Sharp & Michael Rigby. Sixteen year old Kieran Brooks was drafted in to fill their very large boots & openened the Lytham attack with Richard Openshaw.

A steady start by Northop openers Dyer (35) & Rehmann (28) was broken when Rehman became the first of Brookes three victims. He also accounted for numbers 3 & 4 to return the impressive figures of 3 for 46 in his 9 overs.

Simon Long & Anthony Mulligan were also drafted into the attack, taking 3 wickets apiece. This depth in bowling resources has often helped Lytham in cup matches & today was no exception. All 10 Northop wickets fell to part time bowlers & Skipper Jimmy Wisniewskis leg spin was not even required.

Lythams reply got off to a flyer. Openers Mulligan (38) & Long ((37) scored at a run a ball. When they were replaced by Alan Flood & Jimmy Wisniewski, the carnage continued & Lytham passed the 170 target in just 24.5 overs.
